About Us

Where Competition Meets Community

The Anchorage Sports Association is a member-driven non-profit organization serving Anchorage, Alaska, since 1975.

Our mission is to promote athletics among young people and adults in the Anchorage area at all levels of play, providing a fun, competitive atmosphere for friends, family, and coworkers to come together to play the sports they love. We are proud of the community we have built here in Anchorage and around the state of Alaska over the last 40 years, and we look forward to finding more ways to serve our Association members and the greater Anchorage community.

Our major sports (basketball, softball, and volleyball) are governed by sport-specific councils made up of members who participate in our leagues. That's right--the association belongs to the players! The Anchorage Sports staff works with these councils to run leagues and tournaments as agreed upon by the council members. The overall organization governance is overseen by the Executive Board, which is made up of members from each sports council.

IMPACT Youth Sports

The Anchorage Sports IMPACT program centers around the idea that sports have a positive influence on the lives of young people, and can often teach them how to impact those around them. Our youth programs foster an environment of good sportsmanship, a love for the game, and respect for teammates, coaches, and competitors.
